Getting up in the morning, excited about wearing color dress to school. Have the hair tied into a ponytail unlike the two plaits on all other days. Carry a box full of chocolates in the bag. Have mom made pulao and sweets and off to school. Be the centre of attraction throughout the day. So many friends and teachers giving their best wishes. Have the “happy birthday” song sung with me standing in front of the class! Pick a friend to go along and visit the other classrooms to distribute the sweets. Have lots of fun!! 😀
Fast forward to the college days. Same amount of excitement, new clothes, a little more of dressing up.. 😛 Have celebrations and receive loads of wishes at college. Hang out with the best friends at a coffee shop or hotel and talk loads, admiring the gifts received and thanking them a million times.
Coming further a little more. At office. Sober celebrations. Less noise. Have a cake cutting with the team. If lucky, a second cake to be cut, got by the bunch of close friends at the workplace. Receive gifts, go out for a team treat!
Only things that didn’t change over the years, is the excitement about the approaching birthday, taking the blessings from parents, getting the best and most lovable wishes from the sis, mum made pulao, the group of best friends, and people telling me that I am born on such a lovely day!
This year was different. Not at my home to take the blessings from parents. The in-laws have taken the role of parents. No mum made pulao. 😦 Yesterday being the hubby’s b’day, I made the pulao and gulab jamun! 🙂 Combined celebrations over the back to back b’days and an awesome gift from the hubby! 😀 Friends wishing only over the phone and no more hanging out. 😦
Having turned 26, I guess it’s time to be more mature and sober. (Let’s see how well that resolution goes! :P) Some more resolutions and the struggle in keeping them. All in all, whether it’s been today, last year or any of the years before, I love the fact of having been born on the day of love! 🙂
Happy Birthday to me! And a Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you! 🙂 🙂
